Inventor 2015 has a nice free form modelling tool which lets you bend weird shapes and squidge them around. So I made some 5 or 6 edged cylinders, divided the edges to make them have corners, moved them around a bit and rotated them to line up. Give em a push and pull and they look quite organic. Still not perfect but they don’t really have to be. I need to have another look at the half hex type since the middle doesn’t really line up with the panel so well.
Worked it out quite quickly since there doesn’t seem to be many tutorials around.
